Acropolis Diner

The Acropolis diner is a Vassar tradition. Open 24/7 and within walking distance of campus, this quintessential diner is perfect for late-night snacks and pancake cravings( I don't know about you, but I get these rather frequently). The Acropolis features classic diner decor: mirrors, neon lights and brightly colored seats.  

While the Acropolis is certainly not gourmet, the food is good and covers the diner basics: breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, finger food and desserts, to name a few. The salad bar is sub-par, but it comes complimentary with many of the entrées, if you're looking for something healthy.

There are nicer and fancier diners in the area, including Eveready diner in Hyde Park, but the Acropolis is cheaper and more easily accessible by foot, which makes it an excellent choice if one doesn't have a car or isn't fit to be driving one.

The service at the diner is good, and the servers are accustomed to splitting the bill into separate checks, making it convenient to dine with a group of friends. The servers are quite friendly: On an evening out with a group of friends freshman year, our server helped us poke fun at a friend who asked for raspberry sauce to complement his mozzarella sticks (Honestly, who does that?).

The Acropolis also accepts the VCard, making it an ideal choice for those who are strapped for cash. Entrées generally run between $5 and $15, so a visit won't set you back too much. For the true diner experience, the Acropolis fits the bill.

The Acropolis is located at 829 Main Street on the corner of Fairmont Avenue, a four-block walk from the North Gate of campus. It is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
