You've heard a restaurant described as a "hole in the wall," but that description seems a bit exaggerated until you visit Molé Molé. The Mexican restaurant is a 10-minute walk from campus, and the adorably tiny dining room, quirky ambiance and colorful décor make it a perfect place to visit with friends.
Molé Molé has comfortably resided at North Road in Poughkeepsie for many years, but it wasn't until recently that a second restaurant opened on Main Street, near Vassar. Since then, it has become a new favorite for hungry college students seeking a seemingly limitless menu of Mexican fare; patrons must choose between quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas, flautas, taquitos, Mexican pizza, burritos, chimichangas and more. The entrées can be supplemented with fillings and toppings such as chipotle chicken, spicy pork and grilled steak, to name a few.
Molé Molé has something for everyone—even people like me, who choose to frequent Mexican restaurants knowing full well that they dislike cheese. Vegetarians have a whole section of the menu to choose from, which includes such enticements as black bean nachos, grilled vegetarian pizza and a guacamole burrito.
With such a small dining room, service is quick and the waitstaff are attentive. The restaurant is quirkily decorated and the ambiance is laid back and friendly. Best of all, the meals are extremely cheap; there are only a few entrées that hit the $10 mark, despite the large portion sizes. Try it out with a small group of friends, and it will likely become a regular haunt.
Molé Molé is located at 805 Main Street, as well as 260 North Road, in Poughkeepsie. To contact the restaurant, call 452-9704 (Main Street) or 471-4255 (North Road).
