Sportswriting is historically known as one of the most exciting genres of journalism; each sports game is a story in itself—with a beginning, middle and end. And at Vassar—with games and tournaments each week—the Sports section is never without material.

Indeed, Athletics have become a vital component of life at Vassar; since its founding, the College has enriched its Athletics Department with 25 varsity teams, a series of club and intramural squads, as well as a new website, http://vassarathletics.com, which is updated 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with Vassar sports news and information.

Sports reporters will often work closely with the Athletics department, watching games, talking to coaches and interviewing players for their stories. Like the Arts section, the Sports section can also feature its own columns—in the past, Sports columnists have written about topics such as local Poughkeepsie sports.
